Ushongo Beach Village

The palm fringed Ushongo Beach lies beautifully on the crystal clear Indian Ocean, located 65km south of Tanga between Pangani and the National Park Saadani and opposite the spice island Zanzibar.

Tranquility and idyll of unspoiled nature and the miles of white sandy beach, Ushongo is a heaven for outdoor adventures and activities.

Rich coral reefs run along the coastline, supporting a vibrant underwater world and making an excellent place to snorkeling, diving, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, island boat trips, sailing, and much more sport activities.

With quite a few number of great resorts, lodges and bungalows one can also rent a vacation home or camp on the beach.

Going on an excursion to the historical places of interest in Pangani is highly recommended. There are several historical sites in and around the town that serve as reminders of the strong Arabic influence and the later German and British colonial era.

Pangani was once a secondary center of the sisal industry, servicing sisal plantations to the north and south of town. Pangani also has a fishing industry. In recent years beach resorts have helped improve the economy of the town due to many local and international tourists.
