Kuza Cave & The Rock Cafe, Zanzibar

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

Kuza Cave is located at Jambiani, Zanzibar is one of the best kept secrets of the island. It offers a unique experience for adventurous nature-lovers.

We arrived at Kuza Cave in the middle of the afternoon and were met and greeted by a tour guide named Salim at the entrance, he gave us a tour of the Cultural Centre and took us down in to the cave.

Kuza Cave is an ancient limestone jungle cave with crystal clear turquoise fresh water.

The area around the cave is a peaceful nature preserve for wildlife that includes Red Colobus Monkeys, butterflies, birds, chindi and bush babies.

At the Culture Centre you will get to learn about the history and timeline of Swahili culture.

Swahili culture is best known for its delicious and savoring meals, and at the Centre you will get a chance to learn how to cook a Swahili meal and get to enjoy it afterwards.

After your meal, you get to participate in a very lively music session with onsite local artist. We were given a great music and drum show and were even able to join them. It was fun.

Kuza Cave is a great place to go for a few hours to do something different.

You get to swim; the water is beautiful and fresh, walk around, hang out at the cultural center, cook and eat a Swahili meal and end with a joyful music session.

Don't miss out on discovering this hidden gem.

After spending time at Kuza Cave we headed to the famous “The Rock Café” and we were impressed as expected.

The Rock Café is located at Michamvi Pingwe on Zanzibar Island and is one of the most unique restaurant you will ever see and the view is very beautiful.

The restaurant is built on a rock in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Serving up to 14 tables, all facing a wonderful terrace on the Ocean, the restaurant is connected to the mainland by boat, within high tide, and reachable by foot within low tide. We went during the low tide so we were able to walk to the restaurant.

It’s a very beautiful place for catching the sunset and ending your day excursion. The staff were very friendly, delicious sea food and the price is reasonable.

The Rock Café is the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner for two, or for a memorable evening with friends or family, it is open for lunch and dinner and is available to be reserved for small groups and ceremonies. The Rock kitchen offers a superlative fresh seafood menu I recommend to book a table in advance.

The location is obviously really fun and worth visiting while you are in Zanzibar.
